Eloping does NOT have to mean running off to the courthouse to sign a marriage license because your parents don’t approve. What used to be seen as hiding a marriage is now creating a day focused around what is MOST important to you and your partner NOT your aunt Suzy. These tips are meant for […]

How Do I Plan My Colorado Adventure Elopement?

  1. Marriage License Requirements – Apply early; three-day waiting period; need officiant ( all of our team are officiants)
  2. Best Time of Year to Elope – Summer for long days, winter for snow, July + first two weeks August are the "driest" months. But Skagway gets significantly less rain than other parts of Alaska
  3. Getting there - There are a few options driving, cruise, or fly to Juneau AK then take a small plane to Skagway.
  4. Weather and Daylight Conditions – Be prepared for unpredictable weather and varying daylight hours.
  5. Wildlife Safety Concerns –I’ve spent years as a wildlife photography guide, safely leading guests through the remote wilderness of Alaska and ensuring they have an unforgettable and secure experience - Wild life Photography
  6. Small Planes and Helicopter Concerns – Weather can affect flights; we will have a backup plan and a few extra days of grace
  7. Permits and Location Requirements – There are no permits required in Skagway. Depending on where in town you would like to get married a passport maybe required.
  8. Packing Essentials – It can be cold! Waterproof boots, layers, and weatherproof gear.
  9. Backup Plans for Unpredictable Weather – The weather is unpredictable it is best to plan for a few days of grace periods.
  10. For the best photos and video the afternoon is the best time for Golden Hour! But you can capture amazing photos if your only in town for the day while on cruise ship. I suggest planning a cruise with the longest time in port allowing for sun set photos. We will have you back long before the al aboard time!
