If you have never tried cross country skiing, you need to go outside and try it RIGHT NOW (unless it’s summer of course).
This was the best workout with the lowest impact. I have always loved trail running and hiking but as I get older…I know I’m still young but I sure as hell feel like an old lady sometimes….my knees have started to hurt and I cannot do as many high impact sports. Cross country skiing is essentially doing a TON of lunges over and over and over again. You are not banging your feet against the ground or falling over often. I also think of it like roller blading. Aside from the awesome health benefits, it is super easy and quick to learn. We went out and within 10 or 15 minutes we were cruising along the trails and attempting scary hills. We were far from professionals but we were at least proficient enough to get around and enjoy our time in Grand Lake.
Anyway….we enjoyed an amazing day in Grand Lake, Colorado. The sun was shining and it was an incredible blue bird day. There was no wind, clouds, or precipitation until the very end of our day as the sun went down.
Check out their adorable film!! ❤️😍
Tamara + Nic
Tamara and Nic have been married for about 5 years and when we all connected we knew they had to try something new together. Being from Minnesota, Nic has been cross country skiing multiple times while the rest of us are not as versed. When Tamara mentioned wanting to try, we jumped on the idea and started planning! After multiple messages back and forth, we all decided on Grand Lake Nordic Lodge in Grand Lake Colorado on a Monday. It was the perfect time to try something out in a beautiful location. We absolutely LOVE Rocky Mountain National Park and will do anything to spend time in and around the park.
Monday morning, we all clipped into our skis struggling to move along as Nic cruised past us all! 😂 After a little time and tips from Nic, we were all cruising pretty well. The entire time, we couldn’t get over how beautiful the day was. We were constantly going around corners seeing new mountain views and taking layers off in the warm sun! It was an amazing day capturing and creating memories with another couple. We have no idea how far we went total but every mile was worth the sore muscles to the following days. Cross country skiing was an awesome adventure and something we would definitely do again sometime.
